Bob Parks writes about inventors and other topics in science and technology. He's author of the book Makers: All Kinds of People Making Things in Garages, Basements, and Backyards (O'Reilly Media, 2006), and contributes to the magazines Bloomberg Businessweek, Make, Popular Science, and Runner's World.  He is a Correspondent for Wired. Between 1995 and 2001, Parks worked as a Wired editor, directing sections on products and emerging technology. His blog looks at new running shoe designs on the horizon. In his spare time, Parks trains as a distance runner in the Master's category, with a personal best of 2:51:50 (Bay State Marathon, 2011), and coaches a school program that introduces cross country running to 8 to 12 year olds. He lives in southern Vermont with his wife and two children.
